GS-11: Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience developing computerized programs, models, charts, tables, and other work products based on requirements set by customers; and
Experience using a range of software development and data analytic methods to produce data analytic products.
Applicants may also qualify based on receipt of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree.
Applicants who have a combination of the education and experience described above may also qualify. *One year of full-time graduate education is generally considered to be 18 semester hours. Only graduate education in excess of the first two years may be credited towards the specialized experience required for this position. To compute combinations of education and experience first determine the total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determine the education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; and then add the two percentages. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify for the grade level.
GS-12: Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience working with customers to collaboratively develop and refine requirements for computerized programs, models, charts, tables, and other work products; and
Experience using a range of software development and data analytic methods to produce data analytic products.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume should include the dates of all qualifying experience (from month/year to month/year) and the number of hours worked/volunteered per week.
