This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Office of Communications(OC), Creative Services Group (CSG), Division of Content Development (DCD). As a Supervisory Health Insurance Specialist, GS-0107-15, you will serve as a supervisor leading staff who develop consumer communication policies and as a technical expert to leadership on politically sensitive issues associated with coordinating educational content.

Duties

Directs the implementation of CMS strategic communication objectives, policies, and rules to guide the Agency?s complex beneficiary and consumer communications. Coordinates all facets of the Division?s work by mobilizing a diverse staff of health insurance, visual information, and health communications professionals, to analyze, plan, implement, and monitor beneficiary and consumer communications. Oversees technically complex, cross-Agency projects and initiatives designed to address HHS and CMS strategic goals and objectives related to the work of the organization. Serves as a recognized authority internally and externally on content development and plain language principles to best reach CMS target audiences and clearly and accurately convey program benefits and Agency messages. Designs and implements consumer communications to maximize the impact of multi-organizational consumer outreach and education initiatives.

Providing technical expertise to higher level leadership on complex issues related to communications and publications, policy goals, strategies, and standards AND 3.) Evaluating new policies, regulations and laws pertaining to consumer-centered communications. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
