You will serve as a FINANCIAL TECHNICIAN in the Travel Liquidation Branch of MSC SHIP SUPPORT UNIT SAN DIEGO.

Duties

You will examine financial data to verify compliance with agency guidelines. You will initiate correction actions for financial data discrepancies. You will update financial management systems to resolve missing or conflicting data. You will use a financial management system to input, research, or reconcile financial data. You will process material, services, travel, training, or procurement transactions in compliance with regulations. You will review receipts, contracts, and other records to determine accuracy and completeness. You will respond to questions regarding financial management tasks, procedures, policies, or directives. You will brief managers to provide financial status updates. You will Respond orally to inquiries or routine requests for financial information.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

Qualifications

GS-07 - Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Working with travel systems/databases (such as Defense Travel System, Joint Travel Regulation (JTR), and Joint Federal Travel Regulation (JFTR)). Identifying travel restrictions, required travel training, area clearances, and overseas travel arrangements. Working in the Financial Management System (FMS). Accounting maintenance, accounting support and/or time keeping/payroll functions; Conducting accounting maintenance, accounting support and/or time keeping/payroll functions. GS-06- Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Using accounting systems, policies and procedures and working accurately with figures. Examining, verifying, maintaining, and reconciling accounts and accounting data. Examining documents for accuracy, adequacy of documentation, and compliance with regulations. Maintaining and responding to payroll inquiries and processing pay adjustments.
