You will serve as a TRAINING INSTRUCTOR in the NUCLEAR PROGRAMS TRAINING BRANCH, PRODUCTION RESOURCES/FACILITIES & MAINTENANCE TRAINING DIVISION, PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will conduct assessments and task analyses to determine learning objectives and develop training schedules. You will prepare lesson plans and training materials based on course objectives. You will modify lesson plans consistent with the needs and make-up of the class using state-of-the-art and professional development. You will integrate systematic work requirements into training to provide a conceptual knowlede of skills while promoting safe work practices. You will be responsible for the improvement and modification of training for assigned courses. You will develop student evaluation criteria and evaluate performance in the training.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

For the GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience working with education and training principles, techniques, and practices; Experience training and instructing employees to perform assigned tasks effective and efficiently; Experience updating, establishing, and/or improving assigned courses; Experience incorporating the latest developments and integrating the subjects into instruction. For the GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience assisting with education and training principles, techniques, and practices; Experience assisting employees perform assigned tasks effectively and efficiently; Experience assisting in the updating, establishment, and/or improvement of assigned courses; Experience assisting with the incorporation of the latest developments and integration of subjects into instruction. In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

For the GS-11:
Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled.
OR
Successful completion of three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a such a degree
OR
Possession of an LL.M. that is related to this position being filled.
OR
A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience

For the GS-09:
Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled.
OR
Successful completion of two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree
OR
