The U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM) Armaments Center (AC) serves as the Army's technology leader for armament systems. DEVCOM AC ensures dominance of Army capabilities by researching, developing, integrating and delivering technology-enabled armament solutions to our Warfighters. Armaments Center has a long tradition as the primary research and development center for new and existing armament systems which are in use by U.S. service members around the world.
Duties
Plans and carries out projects in support of production and manufacturing engineering efforts for large caliber cannons.
Evaluates non-conforming cannon components and aids in the determination of impact on form, fit and function of the overall weapon system.
Evaluates and supports manufacturing issue resolution and determination of acceptance or rejection of altered component configuration.
Responds to manufacturing engineering issues representing the organization.
Provides sustainment engineering technical support for fielded weapon systems.
Requirements
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 49lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- You must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 15% of the time.
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
- Three year trial/probationary period may be required.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.

One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Use of Computerized Drafting software to modify existing technical drawings; (2) investigate machining and/or manufacturing operations to evaluate and support manufacturing issue resolution; and (3) convey technical information with stakeholders in order to improve component performance and/or manufacturing processes. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10).
