About the Position: About the Position: This position is located in the Directorate of Human Resources (DHR) - Army Substance Abuse Program Division (ASAP), Fort Campbell, KY. Fort Campbell lies on the Kentucky/Tennessee border between Hopkinsville, KY & Clarksville, TN about 45 miles NW of Nashville. Both visitors & residents enjoy the shops & eateries of downtown Hopkinsville & Clarksville. The cost of living is lower than the average for all major U.S. cities.

Duties

Serve as a member of an Installation Prevention Team. Direct the ASAP Training Program and campaigns as directed by the Army Center for Substance Abuse Programs (ACSAP) Prevention Coordinator Guidebook. Develop an installation-wide ASAP Prevention Education Plan of Instruction to include developing lesson plans for all training conducted for the ASAP training program. Coordinate with and assist the Employee Assistance Program Coordinator (EAPC) in the development and update of training curricula for civilian supervisors and employees. Develop and administer an installation-wide ASAP prevention and education program.

Basic Requirement for Prevention Coordinator: Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in behavioral or social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position, such as social work, psychology, etc. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Experience: Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Developing and administering a Substance Abuse Prevention (SAP) and Education Program to include goals, objectives and/or milestones; 2) Plan and develop training curriculum; 3) Evaluate SAP training and education for continuous improvement; and 4) Training military and/or civilian members on substance abuse prevention. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: ComplianceEducation and TrainingOral CommunicationTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09). Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade, time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. NOTE: To support the Advancement requirement you MUST submit a copy of your latest non-award SF-50 that reflects your highest grade held on a permanent basis along with your application/resume package. Failure to do so may affect your rating or consideration for employment.
