About the Position: Serves as a Police Services Administrator in the Presidio of Monterey Police Department's Records and Vehicle Registration Section at the Presidio of Monterey's Ord military Community.
Duties
Establishes and maintains records of all law enforcement activities on and off the Installation that involves armed forces personnel.
Provides administrative and technical assistance and support to a variety of customers.
Enters vehicle data into COPS, maintaining a record of all vehicles on the installation.
Analyzes incoming reports and ensures that the charges received are adequate or match the specific offense.
Possess a thorough understanding of the interrelationship among charges and offenses to know who has jurisdiction over a specific case.
Determines what additional supportive documentation is required and goes through the proper channels to secure them.
Obtains information from automated systems and forwards to leader, or refers requestor to Freedom of Information Act, (FOIA) Officer, who in-turn forwards information to the requestor, as appropriate.
Performs background criminal files check for a variety of external and internal requestors.
Uses technical knowledge of the California Penal and traffic codes, US Codes, and UCMJ Articles to analyze and edit draft police reports and for preparation of Police case records.
Maintains confidentiality of all information and statistics gained in performing duties.

- Business travel, TDY up to 5% of the time.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. GS-05 - Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) maintaining law enforcement information in various databases; 2) establishing law enforcement case records; and 3) maintaining record control to protect sensitive and personal information. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service(GS-04).

Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
Selective Placement Factor: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-04). To be referred, applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade and qualification requirements within 30 days from the date the referral list is issued.
