About the Position: This position is a DOD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 USC 1599f. Employees occupying CES positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25.
Duties
Serve as the Deputy BDE S6 for the US Army Cyber Protection Brigade (CPB) directly managing all civilian employees and providing oversight to military members assigned within the section.
Serve as Deputy Brigade S6.
Serve as advisor to all Department of the Army Civilians within the Brigade S6.
Responsible for S6 IT contract oversight and management ensuring compliance with applicable legal and ethical laws and policies.
Responsible for management, regulation, and control of IT supplies and equipment. May serve as CPB BDE S6 billing official.
Coordinate training and education of personnel on information security and best business practices.
Compile, review, and justify overall requirements and budget estimates for the Brigade IT.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Three year trial/probationary period may be required.
- Position is designated as an Information Assurance Manager (IAM) II. Must be able to obtain and retain appropriate certification compliance IAW DOD 8570.01 or other applicable requirement as directed within six months of hire.
- May be required to carry a cellular telephone/Portable Electronic Device (PED) and maintain a working personal telephone at all times.
- The position has been designated Mission Essential. Employee is subject to extended TDY or workhours during crisis situations to perform mission essential functions as determined by management.
- Duties of this position may entail alternative work schedules (AWS) such as variable or MAXIFLEX, including extended shifts; rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
- The employee is subject to being recalled for urgent situations; and working extended overtime in response to surge situations.
- Personnel assigned to work in an NSA facility must be able to obtain and maintain access to NSA facilities and networks.
- May be required to successfully complete an initial and periodic Counterintelligence-scope Polygraph (CI Poly) examination with No Deception Indicated (NDI).
- This is a drug testing designated position. In accordance with AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, the incumbent must successfully pass a urinalysis screening prior to the appointment and periodically thereafter.
- This position is classified as IT access level IT-I (Privileged User) and Sensitivity Matrix for TS/SCI is Special sensitive, Tier 5.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance based on an SSBI with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).

Specialized experience would be demonstrated by leading and managing personnel sufficient to perform the full range of administrative and technical supervisory duties; developing cyber/IT policy and plans in accordance with regulations; developing and manage a Brigade's IT/cyber life cycle program including acquisitions/procurement requirements, creation of ARTs packages, identification of UFR requirements and use of CHESS and other procurement related platforms; and expertise with computer networking concepts and protocols, and network security methodologies.
