You will serve as a ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (NAVAL ARCHITECTURE) in the Structural Engineering and Planning Division (250), Office of the Chief Engineer, Engineering and Planning Department of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will provide naval architecture technician services directly related to achieving the objectives of the division.
You will provide technical assistance for and prepare procedures for conducting tests on various structural equipment and systems.
You will prepare specifications and provide direction for the procurement of special material and services associated with assigned projects.
You will prepare and perform review of all drawings, material specifications, test procedures, and other documents pertaining to projects.
You will act as a troubleshooter in the identification and resolution of problems encountered during installations, grooming, or testing phases of waterfront production efforts.
Requirements

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-9 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience applying working knowledge of naval architecture technician principles, methods, and techniques to perform design work and plan conventional and state of the art work.
Experience applying knowledge of engineering aspects unique to nuclear powered aircraft carriers.
Extensive experience providing technical naval architecture engineering support.
Experience performing as the technical authority on a full range of shipboard structural systems and components.
Experience providing engineering design services.
Experience evaluating project concerns and applying the latest development and techniques to solve problems not readily treatable by traditional or accepted methods
Experience communicating and cooperating with electrical and mechanical engineering fields on construction, alteration, conversion and repairs of Navy vessels assigned to NNSY.

Experience applying working knowledge of naval architecture technician principles, methods, and techniques to perform design work and plan conventional and state of the art work.
Experience applying knowledge of engineering aspects unique to nuclear powered aircraft carriers.
Extensive experience providing technical naval architecture engineering support.
Experience providing engineering design services.
