This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration. The incumbent serves in a supervisory capacity in one of the branches of the National Personnel Record Center, Military Personnel Records Branch, within Agency Services of the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA).
Duties
As a SUPERVISORY ARCHIVES TECHNICIAN, you will:
Participate in the direction of all phases of the section's operations to include program planning, administration, program coordination, staff/team development, employee engagement, and personnel management.
Coordinate program operations for assigned section, identify critical issues within span of control and determine resolution to accomplish mission goals.
Assist Assistant Branch Chief and inspect Section program procedures to determine status and requirements for immediate or long-range projects and ensure data formulation for incorporation into a management plan.
Supervise lower graded Technicians, which may include "Lead" Technicians.
Ensure employees are aware of organizational policy and mission requirements, and manage internal review ensuring compliance.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
For the GS-07- Specialized experience is one year (52 weeks) of experience at the GS-06 level or equivalent in public or private sectors, that is directly related to the position as listed in this announcement and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the supervisory duties of the position. Specialized experience is described as:
- Resolving unique and/or advanced issues regarding military record holdings using obscure locations, both internally and externally;
AND
- Interpreting new and revised regulations and write instructions, memos and training material to inform others of interpretations;
AND
- Practicing the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) or the Privacy Act (PA) to determine whether the requested information may be released.
Specialized experience for the GS-06 is defined as one year of experience at the GS-05 level that is directly related to the position and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience includes:
- Reviewing and studying regulations, procedural manuals, directives, etc. for guidance relating to program requirements.
AND
- Assisting in a leadership role to ensure processes and procedures are implemented efficiently and effectively into branch operations.
AND
- Resolving non-recurring problems and meeting deadlines; completed products are evaluated for effectiveness in meeting goals.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-07, you must have been at the GS-06 level for 52 weeks.
For the GS-06, you must have been at the GS-05 level for 52 weeks.
