This position is in the Office of International Affairs (OIA), Front Office, Federal Communications Commission (FCC) located in Washington, DC. Relocation expenses will not be paid.

Duties
The incumbent serves as a Telecommunications Support Specialist in OIA, Front Office. The incumbent works closely with the OIA Chief, Deputy OIA Chief, and/or the Chief of Staff and performs detailed research in support of policy and legal work in the Office of the OIA Chief. Such research may pertain to international economic and competition policy; Commission rules, regulations and policies; as well as court decisions, communications developments in foreign countries and other pertinent information. Based on information compiled in such research projects, the incumbent may contribute to documents as delegated by the OIA Chief, Deputy OIA Chief, and/or the Chief of Staff. The incumbent provides pertinent information to the senior staff in various forms to assist them in developing and making fully informed policy and regulatory decisions.

Qualifications
Applicants must meet eligibility and qualification requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Current Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
GS-9-In order to be deemed as qualified, candidates may qualify by virtue of education, specialized experience or a combination of both education and experience. A. Education-Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. OR B. Specialized Experience-Candidates must have one year of specialized experience which is equivalent to the GS-7 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as follows: 1. Experience conducting research, analyzing and evaluating information to write or prepare reports or other documents. 2. Experience obtaining and providing information to Commission staff on international telecommunications issues. 3. Experience determining the urgency, importance and priority of public and Congressional inquiries and requests.
OR C. Combination of education and experience GS-11-In order to be deemed as qualified, candidates may qualify by virtue of education, specialized experience or a combination of both education and experience. A. Education-Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related. OR B. Specialized Experience-Candidates must have one year of specialized experience which is equivalent to the GS-7 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as follows: 1. Experience conducting research, analyzing and evaluating information to write or prepare reports or other documents. 2. Experience obtaining and providing information to Commission staff on international telecommunications issues. 3. Experience determining the urgency, importance and priority of public and Congressional inquiries and requests. 4. Experience preparing special narrative or other reports and/or graphic presentations using a variety of computer software.
