About the Position: The Food Service Worker performs nutrition services for the hospital campus. Duties will include preparing food item display carts for distribution and sales to customers; receiving cash and electronic payments; inventorying food and food service supplies for the department. This position entails a variety of shifts including weekends, weekdays, nights, and day.
Duties
Prepare food items for cart service across the hospital campus.
Record item inventory for determining necessary replenishments.
Receive cash and electronic payments from customers.
Update daily menu offerings and prices as changes occur.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
- This position may require the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing, complete a hepatitis screening, and/or receive a rubella and rubeola vaccine depending on command requirements.
- This position may require the incumbent to work on any day or shift, including PMs, nights, weekends, holidays, or on an "on call" basis, necessary to meet mission requirements.
- This position has been designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- This position has been designated Weather Essential. In the event of inclement weather conditions, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- This position requires heavy lifting up to 35 pounds.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Food Service Worker ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform the most difficult and complex Food Service Worker tasks. I am skilled in processing food item transactions with a cash register; counting and balancing cash register; cleaning and sanitizing food preparation and dining areas; portioning ingredients and food items; creating and updating menu offerings for customers; receiving orders in person and via telephone; sorting kitchen supplies and food into walk in refrigerators, freezers, and pantries; ensuring meals and drinks are delivered to customers in a timely manner. I am considered an expert and work with a high degree of independence. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort: The work requires the employee to lift items weighing up to 35 pounds; to bend, stoop, push, and pull heavy objects; and involves continuous standing, walking, and sitting. Must possess good eyesight and coordination for cash register and money handling duties.
Working Conditions: Employee performs work in noisy kitchen and dining room areas and is subject to injuries from equipment used. There is exposure to dirt, grease, and water in cleaning tasks and exposure to extreme temperature when bringing supplies from walk-in refrigerators and freezers.
