This position is located in the Legal Division, Litigation Branch, Dallas Regional Office, of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, and provides a wide range of legal services to examine, investigate and facilitate the disposition of legal matters providing the FDIC with timely, comprehensive and cost-effective legal services.

Qualifications

Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Additional qualifications information can be found here. To qualify at the CG-7 level, applicants must meet one of the following: EXPERIENCE: To qualify based on experience, applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the grade 05 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience assisting in preparing legal documents and reports; maintaining files, researching, collecting and analyzing data, and providing general administrative support. -OR- EDUCATION: One full year of graduate level education or Superior Academic Achievement.  Superior Academic Achievement is defined as a 1) Class standing in the upper third of your graduating class or major university subdivision; 2) GPA of 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 based on 4 years of education or computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; 3) a GPA of 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; OR 4) membership in a national scholastic honor society. Click here for Superior Academic Achievement qualification requirements.  -OR- BY COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Applicants must possess a combination of both education and specialized experience described above that together meet the qualification requirements for this position. All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.. To qualify at the CG-9 level, applicants must meet one of the following: EXPERIENCE: To qualify based on experience, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the 07 grade level or above in the Federal service.  Specialized experience is defined as experience preparing legal documents and reports, maintaining files, gathering and analyzing data, and providing general administrative support to a manager. -OR- EDUCATION: To qualify based on education, applicants must possess a master's or equivalent graduate degree (such as an LL.B. or J.D., if related) or two full years of progressively higher level graduate education. -OR-  BY COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Applicants must possess a COMBINATION of graduate level education beyond the 1st full year of graduate education, and specialized experience as described above, that together meet the qualification requirements for this position. All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions. Applicants must have met the qualification requirements (including selective placement factors – if any) for this position within 30 calendar days of the closing date of this announcement.
