This position is located Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard, Director of Operational Logistics, Base New Orleans, Naval Engineering Department New Orleans, Industrial Production Facility, St. Louis, MO. 

Duties

This position is responsible for assisting the Carpenter or Carpentry Worker in the construction, altering and repairing of building structures, fittings, panels, partitions and other wood or wood substitute duties common to the carpentry trade.Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • The position requires a valid state driver's license.
  • Applicant is required to meet the physical requirements of the position.
  • May be required to work overtime.
  • May serve on the Emergency Response team which will require travel.
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • This position requires a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).

Qualifications

Applicants will be evaluated on their ability to perform the duties of the position rather than the length of experience. Eligibility will be determined by the relevance, scope, and quality of all experience and training, regardless of where or how acquired. Applicants will be rated and ranked based on their knowledge of the following job elements:  Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision (Screen-out Element) Knowledge of equipment assembly, installation, repair, etc. Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc (includes blueprinting reading) Measurement and Layout Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment Knowledge of Materials National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
