About the Position: This position located in in the United States Army Special Operations Command DCS, G-3, G-34, Protection in Fort Liberty, NC.
Duties
Serves as a principal Antiterrorism staff specialist and subject matter expert in the HQ USASOC Protection Division.
Independently responsible for developing, coordinating, monitoring, analyzing, and evaluating the status of the Commands Antiterrorism Program.
Provides oversight and coordination of all Antiterrorism training and exercises for the Command.
Supports the Army Force Protection Program through the management of this program by monitoring all procedures, plans, and assessments.
Exhibits knowledge of a broad range of security concepts, principles, and practices.
Performs on-site vulnerability and threat assessments and assistance visits to off-post sites to develop Antiterrorism-related plans, long-range security strategy, planning, objectives, and implement goals.
Explains in detail the intent of regulations, directives and procedures and provides continuity of policy.
Participates in the development, coordination, obtaining approval of, and dissemination of Antiterrorism-related plans that provide standards, policies and procedures.
Judges the seriousness of the problems encountered and keeps the supervisor informed of major issues and obstacles in achieving mission objectives.
Assess the readiness of unit security, update and evaluate in-transit security plans to deter and withstand terrorist attacks and develops crisis management plans and guidance for reacting to terrorist attacks.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Info. Intelligence Community Dir 704
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
- This position requires the incumbent obtain the following core SPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment.
- This position requires the incumbent to be a graduate of the Antiterrorism Level II Course and the DoD Antiterrorism Program Course, or similar course.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience with: 1) Developing a military command's Antiterrorism program; 2) Managing the Core Vulnerability Assessment Management Program (CVAMP) and Combating Terrorism Readiness Initiative Fund (Cbt-RIF) for the command; 3) Evaluating the effectiveness of the command's overall Antiterrorism program; 4) Developing crisis management plans and guidance for reacting to terrorist attacks.5) Preparing and presenting briefings to high ranking officials. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-11.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent GS-11.
