Duties

If selected for this position, you will be responsible for performing essential Information Technology Specialist tasks associated with the day-to-day operations of the United States Attorney's Office (USAO), District of Hawaii. Typical work assignments will include: Performing Enterprise Systems Administration tasks; Providing customer support services and technical advice to others; Performing ongoing enterprise network architecture monitoring and management, including diagnosis of recurring network problems and service interruptions; Installing, configuring, troubleshooting and upgrading commonly used hardware and software systems; Maintaining and upgrading enterprise networks, telecommunications, servers, routers, switches, etc. and related hardware equipment; Maintaining and controlling district's computer equipment internal inventory; Developing and providing Information Technology training; Planning, coordinating and scheduling installation of new or modified hardware, operating systems, and application software; Troubleshooting regular and complex enterprise IT solutions that includes: networks, servers, telecommunications, hardware, end user applications, ESI transfers and productions and contingency responses-resolutions; and Implementing policies and procedures to ensure information systems reliability, availability, accessibility and security to prevent and defend against unauthorized access to systems, networks and data.

Requirements

  • You must be a U.S. Citizen or National
  • Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation
  • You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable
  • If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.
  • You must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement.

Qualifications

GS-12: To be eligible at the GS-12 level, you must meet have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience that equipped you with the competencies needed to perform the job duties. Qualifying experience must demonstrate possession of each of the following competencies: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving. Examples of specialized experience include the following types of duties: installing and maintaining network systems; configuring and maintaining servers, hubs, routers and switches; installing network upgrades; performing network diagnostics and resolving network problems; assessing IT policy needs; implementing procedures to ensure information systems reliability; and installing hardware and software. Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies. If your agency has notified you in writing that you are a displaced employee eligible for ICTAP consideration, you may receive selection priority if: 1) this vacancy is within your ICTAP eligibility; 2) you apply under the instructions in the announcement; and 3) you are found well-qualified for this vacancy.
