This position is part of the DoD, Missile Defense Agency. The incumbent will be responsible for performing as the Deputy Director for Acquisition, providing leadership and oversight of all acquisition functional activity for the Missile Defense Agency (MDA).
Duties
This position is being filled under the memorandum from the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness (USD(P&R)) "Expansion of Direct Hire Authority for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense," dated June 23, 2023.
This is a full-time, supervisory, senior-program management position within the Acquisition Directorate, an Organization of the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). As a Deputy Director for Acquisition at the NH-0340-4 some of your typical work assignments may include:
Serves as Deputy Director for Acquisition. Provide MDA Acquisition Expertise, Support and Assistance. Provide oversight and management of matrixed resources, both civilian and contractor.
Incorporates Department of Defense (DoD) or Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) policy into tailored MDA acquisition policy and ensures subordinate Missile Defense Systems (MDS) component programs comply with policies.
Supports and guides the MDA Program Executives in developing and executing the MDS component program acquisition strategy.
Develops and maintains Director's Program Review (DPR), Missile Defense Acquisition Review (MDAR) and acquisition phase review guidance for the Agency. Coordinates with OSD staff to execute production decisions.
Represents the Director for Acquisition in high level forums and routinely interacts with senior executives, general and flag officers within the Agency, across DoD and Services, with other Agencies, with OMB, as well as with senior executives from national and international private sector industries, media representatives, academia, foreign officials, and members of Congress.

Qualifications
You may qualify at the NH-04 broadband level, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the NH-03/GS-13 grade level in the Federal service as listed below:
Experience with providing technical and managerial oversight and directing all activities associated with successful execution of major defense acquisition programs. OR
Experience with providing program support and collaboration across programs, organizations, functional Integrated Product Teams (IPT's) and external stakeholders; working across multiple diverse stakeholders, resulting in strategic partnerships supporting delivery capabilities; communicating information to senior leaders orally, in writing and with presentation material. OR
Experience with applying systems acquisition processes, policies, procedures, and practices necessary to develop and assess technical and economic feasibility, including cost, schedule risk and performance.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
