About the Position: Serves as a point of contact for protocol requests (telephonic and/or electronic message for visits to JRTC & Fort Polk. Briefs supervisor on visit, requests for approval/disapproval, and notifies requestors of decision. Keeps supervisor informed on the status of pending visits. Contacts appropriate installation activities and units to schedule events.

Duties

Serves as a point of contact for protocol requests (telephonic and/or electronic message) for visits to the installation. Coordinates with domestic, congressional, and US military offices and foreign embassies and protocol liaisons to assist in the arrangement of details for official visits. Plans, coordinates, and prepares material for briefings, presentations, and visits of distinguished personnel. Assist in the development of itineraries for proposed visitors to ensure time is efficiently maximized to familiarize the visitor with the mission, organization, and operation of the installation. Types a variety of correspondence, forms, messages, reports, summary fact sheets, material for briefing and conferences, and other data.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position may require irregular duty hours as requirements may sometimes include evening or early morning functions.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing a variety of tasks relative to the development, coordination, and implementation of plans and itineraries in support of visiting personnel such as military officers, high ranking civilians, and dignitaries; providing applicable administrative assistance pertaining to specific visits, briefings and conferences to include maintaining schedules for meetings, conferences, seminars, ceremonies, events, receptions and visitations; and composing correspondence, memoranda for record, agendas, etc. relative to such visits.This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. (You must submit a copy of your transcript with your application) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. (You must submit a copy of your transcript with your application) You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: AdaptabilityCustomer Service (Clerical/Technical)Writing Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
