About the Position: This position is with the US Army Installation Management Command located at Directorate of Emergency Services, Fort Johnson, LA.

Duties

Serve as a Police Record Clerk (Office Automation), performing a variety of clerical, administrative and office automation functions in support of a Directorate of Emergency Services. Perform routine clerical and administrative functions using office equipment such as computer, copier, and fax machines. Input data manually into the Army Law Enforcement Reporting and Tracking System (ALERTS) for submission to the appropriate agency. Serve as a post debarment, revocation and suspension of Installation Driving Privileges clerk. Proofread documentation for correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, capitalization, and formatting so that the information on the case report flows properly. Prepare a variety of forms used by the organization served.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • One-year probationary period may be required.
  • Pre-employment physical required.
  • Secret security clearance required.
  • Occasional travel to other duty locations 10% of the time.
  • Moderate to heavy lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) certification within six months of being appointed to this position.
  • Working flexible hours which include weekends, nights, and holidays.
  • Significant knowledge of office automation systems and a fully qualified typist to perform word processing duties.
  • This position requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5-minute sample with 3 or fewer errors.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Customer Service (Clerical/Technical)Integrity/HonestyWriting Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
