You will serve as a Safety and Occupational Health Specialist in the Business Support Department of NAVSUP FLC NORVA GF.

Duties

You will ensure compliance with accident prevention, planning, control, risk management and safety education and promotion You will advise management, staff, supervisors, employees, and contractor personnel on a variety of safety and occupational health matters You will recommends hazard abatement and control procedures to correct deficiencies; records and tracks status of corrective actions. You will screen, enroll, assign occupational stressors, and track medical qualification status for all personnel in various medical surveillance programs You will serve as intermediary between customer/service requestor and contracting office on all issues pertaining to a contract

Requirements

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Safety and occupational Health Specialist work specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: applying an extensive knowledge of safety and occupational health principals, methods, and techniques to independently assess, recommend, and implement safe working procedures and eliminate unsafe working conditions, hazards and risks to personnel and property. You have experience developing and revising safety regulations and standard operation procedures in order to meet local needs and requirements. You have experience scheduling and preforming periodic and unscheduled inspections of facilities, work sites, and operations to evaluate compliance with occupational safety and health administration. Examples of specialized experience may include 1) Analyze data gathered to determine the origin, causes, and any contributing factors for the mishap; 2) Provide safety training to workers and supervisors using a wide variety of materials publications and protective devices; 3) Procure and stock correct fall protection equipment; 4) Review department purchase requests for personal protection equipment and shop tools and equipment to ensure compliance with regulation.
