You will serve as a Human Resources Assistant (Military) in the Records Research and Reconstruction Section, Manpower Management Records and Performance (MMRP) Branch, Manpower Management Division of the HQ US MARINE CORPS.
Duties
You will reconstruct, prepare, and release the Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty form (DD-214).
You will respond to requests for replacement of the DD-214 because of being lost or destroyed.
You will create DD-215s for actions that require alteration or correction after departure from the separation activity, the request for re-issuance, correction, or reconstruction is processed by the units.
You will verify military service by researching current and historical records.
You will extract and research personnel data from Personnel Files (OMPFs), Health Records, Service Record books, source documents, and military personnel systems and databases.
You will monitor output, maintain production reports, and ensure records are appropriately safeguarded against improper uses per established guidelines.
You will use electronic mail, spreadsheets and database software functions to perform such operations as updating, revising, sorting, calculating and manipulating data to complete assigned duties.
You will perform a variety of miscellaneous clerical support functions related to military record keeping.
Requirements

Qualifications
GS-07
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-06) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing clerical and administrative support performing most or all of the following duties: 1)Researching and extracting data from an automated personnel database to verify and/or reconstruct personnel records; 2) Determining eligibility of benefits utilizing knowledge of military separations and retirement procedures; 3) Updating, revising, sorting, calculating and manipulating data using electronic mail, spreadsheets, and database software functions; and 4) Retrieving, researching, and analyzing information from office automation databases and online systems to solve issues, reconstruct documents, and respond to queries.
GS-06
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-05) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing expertise in clerical and administrative support duties. Specialized experience must include performing most of the following duties: 1) Researching and auditing a variety of personnel actions (awards, personnel records, assignment, or separations and retirement); 2) Verifying prior service by researching current and historical records; 3) Preparing accurate official correspondence; and 4) Retrieving information from office automation databases and online systems to reconstruct documents and respond to queries.
