This position is organizationally matrixed within Nursing Service at the Veterans Health Care System of the Ozarks. The Program Support Assistant collaborates with the Associate Director, Patient Care Services and the OR Manager for surgery service workload forecasting, scheduling design, procedure development, quality improvement implementation, modification of processes, evaluation and ongoing operation of the OR and outpatient surgery unit and operating room flow.
Duties
Make sound decisions identifying and utilizing all appropriate available resources.
Plans and directs programs providing total support service functions.
Develops training and reference materials providing or coordinating training in software applications.
Provides special data collection and formatted reports for audits and team visits.
Coordinates the day to day operation of clinical flow, processes and functions.
Performs database file searches, prepares, executes, and/or tracks program specific information.
Provides information, recommendations and advice from data obtained from computer systems.
Researches and analyzes problems, issues, and program requirements.
Develops recommendations and/or proposals based off of research.
Monitors all aspects of the operating programs and makes recommendations to improve or modify methods for disseminating information.
Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm (subject to change based on the needs of the agency)

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/31/2023.
GS-06 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes: Proficient in Excel, Word, Power Point, electronic medical record systems such as CPRS and VISTA, superior written and verbal customer service skills; collect, interpret, and present data; establish and maintain databases of records. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week.
GS-07 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. There is no educational substitution for the GS-06 and GS-07 level.
Typing Requirement: This position requires the skills of a qualified typist. In addition to meeting the experience, you must be able to type at least 40 words per minute.

Physical Requirements: Incumbent will be exposed to stressful working situations that will require a mature attitude and collective reasoning to overcome. Subject to a great deal of stress because of the high volume of work, the need for accuracy, frequency of interruptions and ever changing demands due to program changes.
