You will serve as an ENGINEERING TECHNICAN (MEHCANICAL) in the Propulsion Machinery Branch (Code 266), Design Division, Planning Department of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will provide waterfront technical support to investigate malfunctions or faulty conditions on propulsion equipment and recommend corrective action.
You will prepare and provide guidance for preparation of procedures for conducting tests on various equipment.
You will prepare procedures/instructions as necessary to accomplish necessary work.
Requirements

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience applying intensive practical knowledge of propulsion equipment in a shipyard setting.
Experience applying intensive practical knowledge of marine and mechanical engineering in a shipyard setting.
Experience utilizing main propulsion equipment.
Experience performing as technical authority on a full range of shipboard mechanical systems and components.
Experience evaluating and applying the latest developments and techniques in solving problems not readily treatable by traditional or accepted methods.
Experience utilizing facilities available in various shops of the shipyard for accomplishing installation and maintenance of ships/submarines overhaul and repairs.
