The Program Support Assistant -Credentialing Specialist is assigned to the Quality and Patient Safety Office, which is under the Executive Director at Raymond G Murphy VA Medical Center and is responsible for providing administrative and technical direction and support to the Quality operations. The Program Support Assistant. The incumbent is responsible for collecting and tracking relevant data to ensure compliance with patient safety measures and privacy information.
Duties
Major duties include, but are not limited to:
Measures compliance and timeliness of patient safety event reviews.
Gathers and analyzes information from multiple sources for patient safety events.
Monitors and coordinates data with a variety of incoming sources.
Reviews correspondence, responds, and routes it to appropriate staff members.
Provides background information and locates records and files when necessary.
Determining processes for coordination of incoming data and documents from a variety of sources.
Collaborates with stakeholders to develop reports and measure compliance.
Ensures the Patient Safety programs are compliant with all facility, VISN, and national deadlines and requirements.
Retrieves information from multiple authorities regarding incidents and systems issues.
Uses a high level of discernment and skill when communicating.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/05/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-7 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-6. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-5 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Maintaining confidentiality of information in accordance with rules and regulations; Providing quality control checks on data; managing multiple projects and priorities; meeting deadlines; using software applications and data bases and internet database applications for data entry, file maintenance and data retrieval; and researching reference materials, regulations, and standards to identify appropriate action necessary to correct problems or issues. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift 25 lbs. On most days physical demands of the work are generally minor and are sedentary in nature. However, the incumbent must have the ability to complete all PMDB training to have a full understanding of the
techniques and methods involved and to actively train staff. This will require physical effort such as setting, squatting, standing, walking, bending, etc. while engaging in and demonstrating hands-on PMDB techniques. These demonstrations
require close physical proximity and contact with other staff.
The work has periods of sedentary tasks with desk/computer work followed by highly active involvement in PMDB and other programming throughout MVAMC. The incumbent may need to occasionally drive long distances to various MVAMC sites.
The emotional demands can be stressful in working with high-risk patient events as well as employee concerns. Exposure to graphic content including descriptions of threats, vulgar language or sexually inappropriate content/language, racial harassment,
and other types of verbal and physical violence is experienced regularly as a receiver of reporting. A high level of self-awareness, resilience, and mental fortitude is essential.
