Joining the Secret Service, Office of Technical Development and Mission Support, Technical Security Division will allow you to conduct and coordinate a variety of highly technical security functions at the White House and other USSS facilities in the Washington, DC area and field offices worldwide. The selectee will serve as a Security Specialist in the Office of Technical Development and Mission Support, Technical Security Division. Typical work assignments include:

Qualifications
GS-11: You qualify for the GS-11 level (starting base salary $59,319) if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level performing duties such as:
Assisting with conducting security surveys and determining appropriate technical security options based on findings;
Assisting with installing intrusion detection systems, access control systems, or lock and key systems;
Testing security and screening equipment to evaluate security vulnerabilities; OR
PH.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree; or LL.M., if related; or A combination of specialized experience, as described above, and related graduate level education beyond the first year of graduate level study. This will be calculated using your resume and unofficial transcripts or a list of courses/course hours submitted with your application.
GS-12: You qualify for the GS-12 level (starting base salary $71,099) if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level performing duties such as:
Installing intrusion detection systems, access control systems, lock and key systems;
Inspecting and ensuring the proper installation, function, and maintenance of security equipment;
Interpreting technical material, rules, regulations, and instructions to resolve security issues; and
Developing and implementing preventative maintenance programs for Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives detection and mitigation systems.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
