You will serve as a Engineering Technician in the Project Management Branch (Code 520.2), Material Sourcing Division (Code 520), Supply Department (Code 500) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will serve as a Project Material Manager (PMM) for planning and logistics.
You will be responsible for managing and coordinating the timely identification, ordering, and successful acquisition on shop work related materials/services in support of non nuclear industrial efforts.
You will utilize technical engineering knowledge and logistics management to determine material requirements for complex ship repair projects and impact of material problems.
You will provide technical engineering support for material management in both advance planning and execution phases.
You will be responsible for the coordination for complex acquisition plans for multiple ship work projects in varying stages.
You will manage the identification and resolution of material problems and develops process improvements for increased accuracy of identification, ordering, and delivery for future work.
You will attend various advance planning and execution phase project meetings relative to material acquisition and delivery.

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience managing material, logistics, and supply systems, including material identification, ordering, substitution, delivery and receipt.
Experience utilizing automated information systems and material management databases.
Experience implementing contracting and procurement guidelines, laws, and regulations.
Experience providing engineering and planning support for material management issues that involve an entire ship class, cross ship class lines, involve the entire activity, impact other shipyards, impact other activities, and/or are higher echelon corporate issues.
Experience identifying recurring material problems related to repair of certain aircraft carrier or submarine systems accomplished at several shipyards, such as lack of material and/or equipment suppliers, repeated equipment failure, or inadequate long lead time material delivery.
Experience researching problems and developing impact statements and/or recommendations for solution.
