About the Position: This position is located at the Human Resources Command, The Adjutant General Directorate, Soldier Programs Services Division, Fort Knox, KY. Serves as a Human Resource Specialist (Military) responsible as the Functional Proponent for Army Regulation 600-8-101, Army Readiness Processing.
Duties
Revises regulations, staffs same for comment and approval, and disseminates such changes or revisions to the field via the Army publications system or other appropriate means.
Prepares correspondence and recommendations, provides coordination within Soldier Programs Branch prior to submission.
Prepares reports recommending action to be taken and accomplishes all staff work necessary to implement recommended solutions.
Develops project/study plans, gathers factual information, and coordinates developmental phases with appropriate officials of HRC, HQDA Staff, and interested field elements.
Discusses alternative systems/proposals with authority to adopt proposals not amending policy or creating significant new workloads.
Performs detailed review of regulations and other subject matter materials developed elsewhere which impact on military personnel operations.
Reviews direct communications developed throughout HRC for technical accuracy prior to release to the field in the form of letters or messages.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- Incumbent may be required to perform occasional Temporary Duty Travel (TDY).
- Incumbent must obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized experience: Specialized experience is defined as one year of experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes work that involves conducting extensive fact-finding reviews of military personnel cases. Investigating a variety of problems/inquiries related to determination of eligibility for service-related entitlements, benefits, and privileges. Acknowledging receipt of inquiries and conducting research of correspondence, reports of previous inquiries, and previous cases.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration and Human Resource Management.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.
