About the Position: Serves as an instructor in the A Btry, 1/78th Bn, 428th Field Artillery Brigade. Works under general supervision of the Supervisory Training Instructor, who makes assignments for projects on a continuing basis and provides any background information necessary. Plans and accomplishes work independently in accordance with established work methods, standing procedures, and regulations, and advises supervisor of any unusual problems.
Duties
Teach assigned training and operations for automated fire support systems such as Advanced Field Artillery Tactical Data Systems (AFATDS), 13J10 MOS.
Present technical instruction to military personnel.
Prepare the daily work plan for each phase of each training session.
Ensure that training facilities and equipment are available and operational for proper instruction.
Conduct assigned units utilizing appropriate instructional techniques such as lecture, demonstration, and laboratory exercises to teach theory and practical application the automated fire support system.
Evaluate students' progress, as well as overall success or failure, by administering practical examinations.
Serve as a member of a team engaged in recommending, revising, and assisting in the development of training materials for courses presented.
Participate in review of training materials prepared by team members to insure objectives are met through proper organization of course contents, technical accuracy, and to offer objective comments designed to strengthen the presentation.
Requirements
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that demonstrates a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction which includes: 1) Update training materials for automated fire support systems such as Advanced Field Artillery Tactical Data Systems (AFATDS); 2) Prepare training schedules for input into training database; 3) Maintain training data to include course purpose, scope and prerequisites for automated fire support systems such as Advanced Field Artillery Tactical Data Systems (AFATDS); and 4) Write reports based on training data collection for automated fire support systems such as Advanced Field Artillery Tactical Data Systems (AFATDS).
OR
Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
