This position serves as a Program Assistant located within the Pain Management Team (PMT), which is housed under the Neurology Service at the Washington DC VA Medical Center (DC VAMC). The PMT providers oversight and coordination of pain care and clinical care in inpatient and outpatient settings, and in particular is responsible for the Pain Clinic that serves Veterans with chronic pain conditions, through both virtually and in person care.

Duties

Duties include, but are not limited to the following: Administrative & Technical Support Duties (60% of role) Completing pre-appointment contacts to ensure full understanding of venue (group, phone, VVC, FTF),to ensure attendance and reduce "No Shows" and to ensure Veterans have received all the required educational materials for visit. Providing education on PMT to interested Veterans, handling administrative correspondence for PMT, ensuring supplies and handouts are prepared and ready for each clinic and mail outs. This includes sending secure messages with educational materials to Veterans prior to new appointments. Aiding in various circumstances related to Veterans who may have mental, behavioral, or physical health issues that require additional help (such as Bene-travel assistance) to achieve maximum benefit from the PMT services. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/24/2023. To qualify for the GS-07 level, you must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level or higher in Federal service. Examples of specialized experience include, but are not limited to: Managing office policies. Implementing programs and processes. Use of numerous and varied computer software systems, Such as: Microsoft Word/Excel/PPT, CPRS, VISTA, VAE, VISIO, SharePoint, MS Outlook/Teams App, V-Tel, WEBEX and VANTS Line. Developing reports and/or presentations that assembles and/or summarizes data, background information or other materials. Developing and maintaining contacts. Planning or scheduling appointments Purchasing of equipment and supplies. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Responding to all telephone calls and inquires from internal and external stakeholders. Coordinating meetings. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position: Administration and ManagementClericalComputer Skills Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary, although some slight physical effort, such as walking, bending, standing, lifting, climbing of stairs, carrying of correspondences may be required.
