You will serve as a Quality Assurance Specialist in Code 612 of the Quality Assurance Department of TRIDENT REFIT FACILITY, BANGOR. This announcement is for an Upward Mobility Program position.

Duties

You will support senior quality assurance specialists while reviewing Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) generated in conjunction with TRF work to assure technical accuracy and verify that OQE exists for re-certification of the system or component. You will support senior quality assurance specialists provide refit and project (TRIPER, Periscope ORRC, Radar Mast Depot) quality management. You will support senior quality assurance specialists review material certification, inspection, and test results of production, inspection personnel, or contractors to ensure technical adequacy and compliance with technical requirements.

Requirements

  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

The Upward Mobility Program is a unique job opportunity. This program is designed to provide Department of Navy employees career growth opportunities who have potential but do not presently meet the Office of Personnel Management qualification requirements for this position. The entry level for this position is GS-09 with a full performance level of GS-11. Knowledge of employees selected may vary and will require the development of an individually tailored training plan to assist them in qualifying for the full performance level of this position. Eligibility requires that the employee be performing satisfactorily, complete all training requirements, acquire the requisite qualifications and have met time-in-grade eligibility for career ladder promotions. This recruitment is open to current UIC 68438 employees who possess the basic knowledge, skills, and ability at or equivalent to WG-10 or GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent in the private or public sector demonstrating the understanding of the application of quality assurance principles to interpret technical plans, specifications, standards, drawings, procedures, or engineering criteria.
