You will serve as a Purchasing Agent in the Contracting Department's Western Pacific Support Division, Maritime Industrial / Trident Support Division, or Fleet/Regional Support Division of NAVSUP FLC PUGET SOUND.
Duties
You will purchase materials that are frequently uncommon items requiring special manufacture, and services that require highly-specialized technical and/or professional skillsets.
You will ensure procurement packages are complete prior to assignment to employees, to include adequate funding, sole source/brand name justifications, urgency statements, and leave vs. purchase forms approved by Legal Counsel.
You will assist the supervisor in develop a training plan to ensure that new simplified acquisition specialists receive a broad spectrum of work experience, and sufficient time and resources to complete formal DAWIA training requirements.
You will serve as the branch's designated mentor assigned to assist incoming Branch personnel with the new employee's transition into the Regional Contracting Department's workforce.
You will process unauthorized commitments received from the Division's customers, interfacing with the FLCPS Office of Counsel, customer representatives and contractor personnel to ensure timely completion of required documentation.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-07 or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector utilizing a simplified knowledge of Federal and Department of Defense Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP) purchase regulations, and methods in order to place orders that involve specialized services or manufactured equipment. I also have experience assisting in the negotiation with agents or potential offerors to ensure the statement of work are agreed upon all parties. Examples of specialized experience may include: 1) perform purchasing work involving manufacture of unique equipment, developing criteria/technical ranking factors for purchases of a variety of requirements ; 2) Analyze price reasonableness using various methods to ensure award of contracts/orders at fair and reasonable prices; and 3) Utilize the Standard Procurement System (SPS) to develop and award simplified acquisition purchases and place orders under existing contracts.
