You will serve as a Supervisory Quality Assurance Specialist in the Inspection Test & QA Division (Code 720), Deputy Lifting and Handling Department (Code 701), in the Lifting and Handling Department (Code 700) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will supervise the functions of the Test Branch including eight Quality Assurance Specialists and various other technical personnel as may be assigned.
You will assign tasks to the working group for periodic scheduled inspections, load tests, and emergent deficiency
inspections and tests of mechanical, structural, electronic, and electrical/mechanical components and systems on WHE,
You will ensure the workforce is knowledgeable of all weight-lifting and handling equipment and maintain qualifications to perform weight handling inspection operations independently, safely, and accident free.
You will schedule, direct, and conduct timely maintenance, condition inspection, and testing on all Shipyard weight handling equipment to ensure necessary standards of quality and timeliness of maintenance testing are obtained.
You will prepare formal requests for filling vacancies or for additional personnel to meet workload requirements and select employees from list of eligible candidates.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience utilizing the knowledge of quality assurance methods, principles and practices;
Extensive experience in the maintenance, testing, and inspection of weight handling equipment in the mechanical, electrical, and structural areas of the various types of this equipment used throughout the Shipyard;
Experience utilizing the knowledge and understanding of the principles of engineering;
Experience composing, editing and preparing technical instructions for final approval;
Experience communicating and negotiating with cognizant personnel utilizing diplomacy, tact and sound judgement/recommendations to establish new maintenance, inspection and repair procedures.
