About the Position:
Red River Army Depot (RRAD) is located in northeast Texas, 19 miles west of Texarkana and approximately 170 miles northeast of Dallas. RRAD is near the corners of 4 states - Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas. The depot's enormous maintenance mission includes the repair, rebuild, overhaul and conversion of tactical wheeled vehicles. Duties
Plans and establishes overall leave schedules.
Assigns work to employees and provides technical direction.
Performs pre-shop analysis of major systems and components of vehicles.
Visually checks over vehicle to identify missing parts of deficiencies prior to release for inspection.
Uses a variety of hand tools and measuring instruments such as micrometers, dial indicators, and torque wrenches.
Plans use of subordinate workers' equipment, facilities, and materials on a week-to-week or month-to-month basis.
Performs rebuild/repair, assembly, adjustment, troubleshooting, and applicable functional test of major mechanical systems and components for heavy mobile vehicles.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Government Passport.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Government Travel Card (GTC).
- Must obtain and maintain a Personnel Background Investigation (NACI).
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 90% of the time. (90% CONUS/OCONUS)
- Must be able to obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance for access to Depot Production Computer System.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment/deployment physical and maintain annual physical requirements and immunizations.
- This position requires a successfully completion of the Civilian Education System Course and the Supervisory Development Course within 12 months in the position.
- This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one-year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
- Temporary promotion may be made or extended up to a maximum of five years and can be made permanent without further competition.
- Temporary appointment may be extended in one year increments up to a maximum of three years but cannot be made permanent.
- Temporary reassignment may be made or extended at management discretion and can be made permanent without further competition.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic Supervisor without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common duties such as explaining the proper tools, equipment, or parts that is required for the repairs. Demonstrate how to interpret guides such as blueprints, sketches, and technical manuals to perform functions of parts or systems; provide quality control review on performed repairs on heavy mobile equipment vehicles; and illustrate troubleshooting analysis to diagnose malfunctions. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
