About the Position: Serves as an Education and Training Specialist/Instructor, for the College of Installation Management (CIM), School of Installation Management (SIM), located at Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

Duties

Ability to provide authoritative advice, guidance, and consulting services on installation command and management issues. Ability to develop, interpret, adapt, and deliver course material as it applies to DA, IMCOM, installation, and garrison levels. Perform research and use educational support systems for web interaction and discussion platforms. Uses innovative educational methods to facilitate classes consisting of high level. Provides advice and guidance to HQ IMCOM and ACSIM, making recommendations which include consideration of impacts on other functional disciplines.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position has Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.

Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, such as Education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes education and training theory, principles, practices, needs assessment, curriculum design, instructional development, program evaluation, educational and training technology in order to evaluate and predict training achievements and student performance, and to prepare interpretations of results and recommendations addressing significant matters such as objectives, content, instructional methods, or probable student counseling needs. Designing, developing, evaluating, and instructing or facilitating senior-level or comparable SIM courses and providing support to other areas of the college. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Education / Training Program AdministrationEducational and Training TechnologyInstructional Design Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
