You will serve as a TRAINING INSTRUCTOR in the MARINER SKILLS TRAINING CENTER of SURFACE WARFARE OFFICERS SCHOOL.

Duties

You will instruct officers, enlisted students on all facets of navigation, seamanship, ship handling, bridge resource management, RADAR fundamentals and leadership in an adult learning environment. You will be required to work independently or in concert with subject matter experts to develop course material in compliance with Navy Education and Training standards You will provide training to and qualify staff members who may serve as navigation, seamanship and ship handling instructors. You will develop, build and integrate instructional tools for delivery throughout the Integrated Learning Environment. You will provide classroom and laboratory instruction and competency assessment to students and staff.

Requirements

Qualifications

I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector : 1) Provides safe navigation, seamanship and ship handling principles training and instruction to students; 2) Develops curriculum to support instruction on navigation, seamanship and ship handling principles in the arts and sciences of ship handling surface combatant ships; 3) Provides instructional techniques and competency assessment methods involving use of bridge simulators, advanced ship handling principles, maneuvering characteristics for Surface Ship, and Automatic RADAR Plotting Aids (ARPA) operations; 4) Assesses students on midterms and finals assessments before graduating course; 5) Facilitates lessons in ship handling, navigation, bridge resource management in a classroom setting while keeping students engaged by utilizing lessons and referencing professional experience. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

I have successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in Education or a subject area related to the position to be filled
OR
I have successfully completed three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Education or a subject area related to the position to be filled
OR

OR
I have a combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience. My percentage of the required education plus my percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
