This position is in the Health Administration Service (HAS) under the direct supervision of the Chief of HAS. The Program Support Assistant works closely with all HAS management including the Chief and Assistant Chief of and collaboratively with the service Program Applications Specialist (ADPAC) on assigned tasks and projects to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the programs aligned to the Health Administration Service.
Duties

Major duties and responsibilities include:
Creating and analyzing reports and is responsible for correcting or adjusting in the data collection when the results do not yield the needed information.
Responsible for presenting and explaining various reports to different audiences.
Reviewing reorganization requests, performance and management indicator reports, suggestions for program improvements, and other similar management and program analysis documents for appropriate format, distribution, and inclusion of required information and explains reporting procedures and requirements to operating officials.
Responsible for compiling and distributing reports on proposed program goals, budgets, staff levels, and performance criteria to operating officials for review and comment as instructed or by standing order.
Creating and preparing charts, graphs, presentations, and narrative information for management or program analysis reports from material either provided or data mined.
Utilizing advanced knowledge of automated/computer programs and systems including word processing, spreadsheet, data base, project management, graphic design, and management information systems.
Reviewing and interpreting new and established directives, instructions, regulations, etc., and delegations of authority for potential impact on program objectives, operating policies, work operations, and progress.
Performing secretarial duties in support of HAS service chief and managers, and in some cases, the subordinate staff of those individuals as well.
Receiving, scheduling, referring, and contacting members of the staff, agency, and persons outside the agency ranging from other government agencies to the general public.
Processing incoming and outgoing materials such as correspondence, reports, memoranda, and other written communication.
Performing the following types of duties: edits letters, composes letters and reports, reviews correspondence for accuracy and completeness, prepares public presentation outlines, and develops standard or form letters and replies to inquiries.
Performing other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm

Qualifications
IN ORDER TO QUALIFY FOR THIS POSITION AT THE GS-6 LEVEL YOU MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: You must possess 1 (one) year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-5 level in the Federal service, that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) needed to successfully perform the duties of the position and that is typically in or related to this Program Support Assistant position to be filled. Specialized experience for the position includes utilizing a variety of applications such as word processing, electronic email, calendar, spreadsheets, and databases to perform clerical duties; preparing and maintaining correspondence; scheduling meetings and appointments; creating, analyzing, and distributing a variety of reports; preparing charts, graphs, presentations and narrative information for management. Physical Requirements: The work is generally sedentary; however, there will be some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of light items such as papers and books. The tasks may require long periods at a desk working on a personal computer or other piece of equipment.
