About the Position:
This position is located at Fort Novosel, Alabama, home of the United States Army Aviation Center of Excellence. Fort Novosel is located in the "Wiregrass" area in Southeast Alabama, surrounded by Enterprise, Ozark and Daleville. The geography and climate are ideal for year round military training. Recreation activities are abundant in the immediate and surrounding areas for family and fun.
Duties
Represents the organization on installation mobilization planning, in-progress reviews, and after-action meetings for scheduled semi-annual through five (5)-year recurring exercises and in actual conditions.
Conducts Command Inspection Program (CIP) as requested by higher headquarters.
Independently performs a wide variety of complex procedural and substantive duties pertaining to the assignment, reassignment, and requisitioning of Soldiers for serviced activities.
Advises on and coordinates plans, activities, and support to family members and mobilized and deployed personnel.
Represents the commands interests at active military, reserve component, local government, and civilian agency meetings.
Serves as the Readiness Programs Specialist who provides functional expertise in contingency operations/mobilization.
Serves as principal advisor to the division chief on all areas related to mobilization and deployment.
Coordinates with installation, as well as units and agencies at all levels of command on and off the installation on matters pertaining to the mobilization/deployment mission.
Reviews and revises readiness SOPs applicable to the Army deployment support requirements.
Requirements
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
- Work schedule will fluctuate in support of contingency emergency operations, i.e., activation or exercise.
- Incumbent may occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes coordinating mobilization/deployment plans, exercises, studies, or activation; analyzing and evaluating problems and issues relative to unit services and mobilization/deployment planning; providing assistance to Soldiers and their families through activities in the garrison and deployed setting; utilizing military personnel systems to retrieve data and complete assigned tasks. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Military Readiness.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the second lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
