You will serve as a INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST (SECURITY) in the INFORMATION CYBER SECURITY DIVISION, INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND CYBER SECURITY OFFICE of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will assure sensitive unclassified and classified information is protected.
You will assist in conducting information security training and instructional presentations to shipyard personnel.
You will maintain and update the Information Assurance (IA) Security Intranet website content.
You will support requests to participate in Inspector General (IG) inspections and other audits as requested.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
- This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must earn and maintain appropriate credentials from the Cyber IT/CSWF Qualification Matrix (described in SECNAV M-5239.2).
- You will participate in a continuous learning program as described in SECNAVINST 1543.2. A minimum of 40 hours of Cyber IT/CSWF related continuous learning annually documented in a current Individual development plan.
- You must attain and maintain the Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level III professional certifications, as required by DoD 8570.01-M, Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program, within six months of the assignment to this position.
- A Recruitment or Relocation Incentive may be authorized in accordance with applicable regulations and available command funding and may require a service agreement.
- This is a bargaining unit position.
Qualifications
GS-7
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience conducting system security evaluations, audits, and reviews.
Experience compiling Information Technology (IT) process information for notes, charts, or similar records and references.
Experience communicating Information Assurance (IA) technical requirements to non-IA (Information Assurance) technical personnel.
GS-5
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience utilizing basic Information Technology (IT) principles, methods, and tools.
Experience identifying and resolving basic Information Technology (IT) issues and problems.
Experience working with routers, firewalls, and operating systems.

Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate.
Education: All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.
Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
