About the Position: This position is located with the U.S. Army Research and Development Center (ERDC) in Vicksburg, MS. This announcement will be used to fill multiple vacancies among various laboratories within ERDC.
Multiple positions may be filled from this announcement.
This position will be located in Vicksburg, MS and will allow for situational telework only. This position is NOT eligible for Full time telework.
Duties
Works under the general supervision of the Branch Chief.
Performs complex tasks of broad scope, exhibiting the ability to interpret, select, adapt, and apply many guidelines, precedents, and engineering principles
Practice related to one of the following area; structural engineering, construction engineering, explosive engineering, geophysical principles.
Practices related to remote and persistent geophysical monitoring using unattended ground sensors, geophysical field assessments, and management of networked, integrated geophysical systems.
Plans and accomplishes projects of conventional and unconventional natures, which require considerable judgment and coordinative action with personnel on the project team and beyond.
Requires little guidance and can consistently execute abstract assignments.
Consistently leads diverse teams in completing multiple field and laboratory experiments in support of both direct and reimbursable customers.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as and includes experience with three or more of the following: (1) horizontal or vertical construction, (2) land surveying, (3) vehicle and construction equipment, (4) test data collection, (5) instrumentation and measurement devices, (6) laboratory studies, (7) materials development and testing, (8) infrastructure evaluations, (9) explosives, (10) assisting with the fabrication, (11) scaled models, (12) experimental test events, (13) forklift operation, OR (14) field test sections related to geophysical, geotechnical or structural engineering research. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (DE-2 or GS-07).

Education: One and a half years of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as: engineering, physical science, mathematics, construction, industrial technology, aerospace, architecture, electrical or mechanical systems.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total semester hours minus 18) by 9. Add the two percentages.
This position is covered by the Science and Technology Laboratory Personnel Management Demonstration Project and this pay band includes the General Schedule grade equivalent to GS-08/10. In accordance with the Federal Register Vol. 63, No. 57, dated March 25, 1998, an employee of the Laboratory Demonstration project must have a current average performance score of 2.5 or above in order to be selected for promotion. All applicants currently employed under a Laboratory Demonstration Project must include their most recent performance appraisal score as part of their electronic resume.
