You will serve as an Environmental Protection Specialist in the Training Command (TRNGCMD) of TRAINING AND EDUCATION COMMAND.
Duties
You will manage the Hazardous Material Program for the 52 Area
You will ensure that the 52 Area Hazardous Material site are properly maintained throughout the day and available for units in the 52 Area to dispose of their hazardous materials.
You will assist site operators in resolving such problems as storage facility requirements, waste characterization, disposal, packaging, etc. providing guidance and instruction on changes in procedures.
You will review and ensures accuracy of operating records, and other documentation associated with disposal actions.
You will be responsible for ensuring all hazardous materials and Hazardous Waste are stored in approved lockers or containers.
You will oversee the management of (2) 60-Day Permitted Hazardous Waste Facilities for the receipt, handling, and storage of all hazardous waste and materials used by all maintenance shops.
Requirements

- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
- Must complete the 40 hr Hazardous Waste Handlers course within 60 days of assignment.
- Completion of training for hazardous substance spill response at the operational level.
- Completion of forklift operators training and licensing (6K).
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sectorperforming variety of duties involving the management, coordination, monitoring, oversight, or evaluation of the environmental pollution prevention/protection, and Hazardous Materials (HW)/Hazardous Waste (HW) program.

Education
Additional Requirements: In lieu of specialized experience listed in the Qualifications section, applicants may qualify based on equivalent combination of education and experience, as follows:
Successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree.
OR
Successfully completed two full years of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a master's degree.
OR
Have obtained an LL.B. or J.D. that is related to the position being filled.
OR
A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
