You will serve as a Supervisory Environmental Protection Specialist of the Hazardous Waste Compliance Section within the Environmental Security Department of MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON.

Duties

You will provide oversight to a Hazardous Waste Management program and provide compliance oversight of hazardous waste management facilities. You will advise on the implementation of environmental compliance programs and activities with consideration of federal, state, and local laws. You will determine and establish needs, objectives, exercising decisions, prioritizing programs, scheduling and commitment of resources to attain departmental goals. You will develop annual budget obligations plans, track execution, validate and reconcile disparities and identify shortfalls and obligation trends through the chain of command. You will provide program, division, and directorate representation at relevant meetings, conferences, and discussions with federal, state, and local governmental regulatory agencies and contractors.

Requirements

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: (1) Providing oversight to a Hazardous Waste Management program and providing direct supervision to waste operation management facilities; (2) Advising on the implementation of environmental compliance programs and activities with consideration of federal, state, and local laws; (3) Determining and establishing needs, objectives, exercising decisions, prioritizing programs, scheduling and commitment of resources to attain departmental goals; (4) Developing annual budget obligations plans, tracking execution, validating and reconciling disparities and identifying shortfalls and obligation trends through the chain of command; and (5) Providing program, division, and directorate representation at relevant meetings, conferences, and discussions with federal, state, and local governmental regulatory agencies and contractors.
