The incumbent of this position serves as the personal assistant to a Nursing Director coordinating a wide variety of administrative and clerical tasks essential to the management of the nursing department. Provides administrative, technical and procedural advice in support of the nursing department by identifying and analyzing potential issues.
Duties
Major Duties listed but not limited to:
Serve as the initial point of contact for all questions, information, and problem resolution in the areas of budget, contracting, travel, human resources, file management, correspondence preparation and control, time and attendance, office automation systems, and purchasing/procurement within the department.
Provide support on complex administrative matters affecting the health care delivery system.
Prepare correspondence in support of the department's daily operations.
Participate in the annual budget review process.
Prepare and ensure accuracy of budget reports.
Serve as liaison to Human Resources and Nursing Recruiter to track progress on the hiring process.
Utilize office automation or word processing applications to create a variety of documents.
Obtain statistical data from published reports and use spreadsheet software to produce tables and charts.
Coordinate the travel request process for department staff.
Assist in the planning and conducting of special projects, workshops, seminars, and other meetings.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 08:00am - 4:30pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/22/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: performing various administrative duties, such as preparing correspondence or reports; collecting and analyzing statistical data; coordinating travel requests; and ensuring compliance with regulations and policies.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Physical Requirements: The work is mostly of a sedentary nature with some lifting of light boxes required. Driving to alternate sites within the VISN 23 boundaries may be required.
