This position is located in the Cash Management Department of a Consolidated Patient Account Center (CPAC) serving as the Mail and File Clerk. The CPAC is one of seven regionally consolidated business entities established to enhance revenue operations throughout the VHA network by standardization and consolidation of functions and integration of VHA and Industry best practices.

Duties

Routes non-controlled materials and prepares control and routing sheets for correspondence or other materials. Maintains suspense files for replies and follow up on over-due items. Protects data from unauthorized release or from loss, alteration, or unauthorized deletion. Performs general mail handling and distribution including sorting, opening, date stamping, classifying, processing, and routing mail. Receives and distributes mail and packages to the appropriate CPAC organization. Conducts follow-up with Veterans through telephonic, electronic or written media to ensure that services provided were adequate and appropriate. Work Schedule: Mon - Fri., 8:00-4:30 40 hrs./wk. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/30/2023. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below. General Experience: You must have one year of general experience. Examples of general experience would typically include, but are not limited to: 1) Reviews incoming miscellaneous materials such as mail, publications, directives, etc., and presorts these into action and/or information categories. 2) Protects printed and electronic files containing sensitive data in accordance with the provisions of the Privacy Act of 1974 and other applicable laws, federal regulations, VA statutes and policy, and VHA policy. 3) Protects data from unauthorized release or from loss, alteration, or unauthorized deletion. 4) Makes scheduled mail runs and conducts pickups and deliveries as required. 5) Establish oral communications to establish and maintain effective work relationships. OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must possess two (2) years of education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. OR, Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of general experience and education beyonda high school level. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. (i.e. 6 months of general experience and 1 year of education above the high school level).. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
