About the Position: Serves as Joint Actions Control Office (JACO) specialist and the authoritative point of reference for the Army Staff and Secretariat on all Joint Actions in the performance of Joint duties. Also provides the continuity and historical documentation for the Army on all Joint Chiefs of Staff (CJCS) matters.
Duties
Maintain a close working relationship with the Army Planners, advising the Army leadership on Joint staff actions and coordinating and communicating Army positions on Joint matters
Develop training materials and conduct orientations on Joint Staff actions procedures for newly assigned personnel, i.e., general officers, actions officers and administrative personnel.
Conduct research to obtain background information to evaluate requirements for coordination of responses.
Review briefing material inputs for completeness, accuracy, and coordination and supervise the assembly of the briefing books.
Provide administrative advice and assistance regarding specialized procedures and terminology of the office agency-wide, as well as preparation, content, and assembly of staff actions.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Personnel must pass drug screening prior to hiring and will be subject to periodic and random drug testing, thereafter, in accordance with AR 600-85 and Department of Defense Directive 2010.9.
- This position may require temporary duty (TDY) travel up to 25% of the time
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Info (SCI) security clearance.

GS 12 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting in the development of administrative procedures to support an office; implementing security programs regarding classification of documents; and preparing staff reports to deliver briefings to managers.This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
GS 13 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes developing standard operating procedures to support established administrative guidance; providing advice on preparing staff actions; and creating reports or recommendations to influence decisions by leadership concerning the administrative operations of the organization.This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
