You will serve as a ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (ELECTRICAL) in the Submarine Electrical Branch (Code 275), Electrical Engineering Division, Engineering and Planning Department of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will provide engineering services to include developing technical instructions for repairs and modifications to shipboard equipment and systems.
You will identify and order materials and provide waterfront engineering services in support of work on submarine electrical systems.
You will prepare and perform review of all drawings, material specifications, technical work documents (TWD), test procedures, and other documents pertaining to the project.
You will serve as a technical consultant for acceptable substitutes for materials which are not available.
Requirements

- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience preparing engineering documents and to provide waterfront engineering services for complex submarine systems and ship alterations.
Experience with the execution of electrical work that enables you to determine and execute actions on a wide range of assignments involving many combinations of complex features.
Experience utilizing technical knowledge of nuclear submarine electrical installations on lighting distribution, ship service and emergency generators, electrical propulsion control systems and components, internal communication systems, metering and alarm systems, and SUBSAFE systems and components.
Experience utilizing professional knowledge of related engineering work; mechanical and structural, is required to a degree which permits technical understanding, communication, and cooperation with others on the project.
