You will serve as an Information Technology Cybersecurity Specialist (OS/APPSW) within the NETWORK ACTIVITY NATIONAL CAPITAL REGION (NETACT NCR) of Marine Corps Cyberspace Operations Group (MCCOG).

Duties

You will conduct analysis and develop solutions to resolve complex issues affecting IT services and information systems. You will perform database maintenance, migration, and upgrading hardware and software. You will apply a control framework or an internally developed model to help when design the internal control processes. You will create and maintain system documentation in accordance with security policies and standards in support of regional managed systems and applications.

  • This is a Drug Testing Designated Position (TDP). A pre-employment drug test is required, and the position is subject to random drug testing.
  • Occasional travel is required up to 10%, which may involve the use of commercial and/or government aircraft.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position is MISSION ESSENTIAL, and the incumbent is required to report for duty, in an emergency (regardless of holidays, weekends, nights, furloughs) or conditions such as weather in which non-essential personnel are not expected to report.
  • This position has been designated as a Cyber Workforce position in the DoD Cyber Workforce Framework (DCWF) role of (System Administrator) proficiency level (Intermediate) and, as a condition of employment.
  • The incumbent of the position is required to maintain qualifications in accordance with DON Cyber Workforce Program requirements of SECNAV M-5239.2.
  • This position is telework eligible (Situational Only)

Qualifications

You are required to have one year of information technology (IT) related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined: 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include analyzing performance and event management indicators and makes configuration changes to optimize and improve functionality of IT services and information systems. 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT related experience demonstrating this competency include providing support to the Customer Service Center (CSC) Manager. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include speaking with coworkers and points of contact in order to gather new user or government driven initiatives and information gathering in support of troubleshooting existing services and systems. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include conducting database system performance monitoring and management of system events to ensure the availability of database services. In addition to your experience demonstrating the four competencies above, you are required to have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies or knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience is typically in or directly relates to the work of the position to be filled. Qualifying experience would be demonstrated by: Creating and maintaining system documentation in accordance with security policies and standards in support of regional managed systems and applications; coordinating the installation of new products/equipment such as servers; using configuration management to document and control the functional and physical characteristics of a system, network, or product.
