You will serve as an Information Technology (IT) Cybersecurity Specialist (APPSW/SYSANALYSIS) for the System and Application Solutions Section, Enterprise Messaging and Directory (EDM) Branch, Department of Defense Information Network (DoDIN) in the Marine Corps Cyberspace Operations Group (MCCOG).

Duties

You will support the maintenance of existing applications software. You will perform a variety network operating system and messaging tasks and activities including administrative communications and workgroup development. You will evaluate the nature and scope of work for automation to determine the need for system development, modification or redesign. You will execute information technology (IT) initiatives to include planning, design, implementation and operation.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET/SCI security clearance.
  • This is a Drug Testing Designated Position (TDP). A pre-employment drug test is required, and the position is subject to random drug testing.
  • Occasional travel is required up to 25%, which may involve the use of commercial and/or government aircraft.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • Must obtain and maintain DoD Directive 8570 Information Assurance Architecture and Engineering (IASAE) Level II certification until superseded by DoD Directive 8140 requirements.
  • This position has been designated as a Cyber Workforce position in the DoD Cyber Workforce Framework (DCWF) role of System Administrator, Enterprise Architect, Research and Development Specialist proficiency level Intermediate.
  • As a condition of employment, the incumbent of the position is required to maintain qualifications in accordance with DON Cyber Workforce Program requirements of SECNAV M-5239.2.
  • This position is MISSION ESSENTIAL, and the incumbent is required to report for duty, in an emergency (regardless of holidays, weekends, nights, furloughs) or conditions such as weather in which non-essential personnel are not expected to report.
  • This position is telework eligible.

Qualifications

You are required to have one year of information technology (IT) related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined: 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include evaluating the nature and scope of work for automation to determine the need for system development, modification or redesign. 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT related experience demonstrating this competency include coordinating and reviewing customer requirements, user application information, workflows, and processing actions to ensure Network and System tools are properly employed. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include representing the organization in meetings and symposia for the purpose of obtaining resources, conveying findings and recommendations through correspondence with other professionals. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include serving as a problem solver, advisor and provides planning support for units and installations for Enterprise Management Tools. In addition to your experience demonstrating the four competencies above, you are required to have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies or knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience is typically in or directly relates to the work of the position to be filled. Qualifying experience would be demonstrated by: Evaluating new applications software technologies; supporting the maintenance of existing applications software; providing network operating system support services; and analyzing and designing IT hardware and software to support Wide-Area Network systems. This position is within the Work Category PROFESSIONAL at Work Level FULL PERFORMANCE, Series and Grade GG-2210-12.
