You will serve as a SECURITY SPECIALIST in the CENTER FOR INFORMATION WARFARE TRAINING (N2) of INFOWARTRACMD CORRY STATION PENSACOLA. GS-7 Pay Range: $46,696 - $60,703 GS-9 Pay Range: $57,118 - $74,250

Duties

You will adjudicate derogatory information to determine Personnel Security clearance eligibility. You will advise management on matters concerning reinvestigation requirements. You will brief and debrief personnel on security awareness for personnel seeking authorization or authorized to the facility. You will access the Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPAS) to retrieve personnel clearance information. You will analyze and evaluate information for classification downgrading, declassification, and for the destruction of sensitive and secure information. You will develop written security procedures concerning receipt, maintenance, marking, handling, storage, transmission, and protection of classified information. You will establish or maintain security files for command personnel.

Requirements

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

Qualifications

For the GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Utilizing knowledge in interviewing techniques to determine eligibility for access to classified information/materials/systems; 2) Advising others on personnel security policy/procedures; 3) Resolving problems with an individual's personnel security information. For the GS-07: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Creating, organizing and maintain security personnel files; 2) Reviewing data in JPAS system to determine clearance, access, and investigative status; 3) Interpreting and applying policies and regulations for access and protection of classified information. In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

For the GS-09:
Successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree
OR
Completed two full years of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a master's degree
OR

OR
Have a combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience. Percentage of the required education plus percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
