About the Position: This position is located at the US Army Military Police School on Fort Leonard Wood. Fort Leonard Wood is located in the South-Central Missouri Ozarks. The Fort covers more than 61,000 acres and is located in Pulaski County, Mo. Bordering the installation are the towns of Waynesville/St. Robert and St. Louis is a 2hr. drive to the East along I-44 and Springfield is an hour's drive to the West of Fort Leonard Wood.
Duties
Plan work to be accomplished by US Army Civilian Police Academy (USACPA) Instructors, sets and adjusts short-term priorities and prepares schedules for completion of work under the supervision of the USACPA Course Manager (CM).
Plan and establishes work schedules, deadlines, and standards for acceptable work.
Coordinate and integrates instructor work schedules and processes with work of other instructors or other technical subject matter experts (SMEs).
Interview candidates for subordinate positions in the unit and recommends hiring appointment, promotion, or reassignment to such positions.
Provide project guidelines, makes periodic review of progress, reviews completed project, and revises materials or returns them to originator with instructions concerning needed revision.
Incorporate a full range of training strategies (discussion, gaming, tutorial, drill, and practice simulation), with full range of instructional training aids,
computer video disks, CD ROM, interactive software, and video telecommunications.
Plan and conducts quality control reviews, validity and reliability studies and surveys of training courses over a broad specialty area or cluster of courses for compliance with established standards.
Develop and implements special projects designed to improve procedures, respond to a general tasking, answer internal, external, and higher headquarters inquiries, or correct a deficiency affecting several organizational units.
Serve as the project officer or team leader for pilot programs, functional process improvement teams, quality teams, and working groups.
Requirements
- A Secret Clearance is required for this position.
- This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence are not eligible for the position.
- This position is covered by the Civilian Drug Abuse Testing Program.
- Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R, "Condition of employment for certain civilian positions identified as critical under the Drug Abuse Testing Program," or a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
- This position requires the employee to pass a pre-appointment physical and subsequent periodic medical examinations.
- Employee must be willing and able to travel on military and commercial aircraft.
- This position requires the employee to drive/operate a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver's license is required and must be maintained for the position.
- Employee may be required to work overtime to include weekends and federal holidays, during out of cycle or unscheduled training, or on an emergency basis.
- Employee may be recalled to duty from scheduled time off.
- This position requires the employee to be a successful graduate of the USAMPS courses assigned, but not limited to, CFD-IC (Common Faculty Development - Instructor Course), TEDMMC (Training and Education Developer Middle Managers Course).
- USACPA (US Army Civilian Police Academy) and the LEOPS Branch Certification for instructors and other military or on-line leadership courses as assigned (these course titles are subject to change).
- Successful completion includes passing all requirements, demonstrated ability to execute subject matter tactics, techniques, and procedures, and to participate in all practical exercises.
- Successful completion of written examinations in accordance with course student evaluation plans. Required Courses must be completed as scheduled by the Branch Chief after employment.
- This position requires the employee to be certified as a Law Enforcement Operations Training Branch Instructor in accordance with USAMPS and Law Enforcement Operations Training Branch Certification programs within the first 12 months of employment.
- Incumbent may be required to travel to remote areas worldwide, possibly including combat and hostile fire zones.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that demonstrates a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction, which includes: teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the Law Enforcement Operations field(s); supervising or administering a training program; developing or reviewing of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluating of training results; and working in the law enforcement field or subject-matter field of law enforcement to be filled that require training or instructing others on a regular basis.This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
