About the Position: Serves as the principle Administrative Support Assistant (Office Automation) for the Secretary of the General Staff, Combined Arms Center at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. NOTE: This is a TEMPORARY not to exceed (NTE) 09/24/2024 position that may NOT be made permanent.

Duties

As an Administrative Support Assistant (Office Automation), you will perform the following duties: Provide regulatory guidance on administrative policies and/or procedures. Serve as the Government Purchase Card (GPC) holder to requisition expendable supplies for the Command Group. Ensures Command correspondence meets established standards. Utilize office automation databases to record, maintain, track, report on, and file correspondence and staff action data.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • The incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM).

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Experience performing a variety of clerical and administrative work using various office automation applications/equipment; (2) Experience in proofreading and editing correspondence and/or technical documents; AND (3) Utilizing a government purchase card to purchase office supplies/equipment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06). NOTE: Applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade and specialized experience requirements within thirty (30) days after the closing date of the announcement.
